If you are unhappy with how your butt looks, then you might be considering getting a butt lift (yes, a butt lift is now a thing). But before you go ahead, it is important that you know what getting a butt lift involves by asking all the right questions.

While more and more surgeons are now performing Brazilian butt lifts, some surgeons are better at them than others. This is because Brazilian butt lifts are done by fat grafting, which is a technique that requires a lot of skills – a skill that sadly, not all surgeons have.

If you are serious about having a butt lift procedure, then it is important that you take the time to do your research and ask your surgeon all the right questions. To help you do this, I have put together this handy guide:

Find a reputable clinic

The first thing you need to do is lots of research. Go online or click here to find clinics that offer Brazilian butt lifts. Make a list of all the clinics in your area and start doing your research on them – ask around and see if anyone can recommend a certain clinic.

If you have a friend or relative who has undergone a Brazilian butt lift, ask them to give you the details of where they had the procedure done. Don’t just go to the first clinic you see, take your time and find out as much about each clinic as possible.

Find a board certified surgeon

Once you have found a reputable clinic, the next step is to meet with the plastic surgeon. This is your chance to find out everything you need to know.

The first thing you need to know is whether the surgeon is board certified by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery – the answer to this should always be yes. If the surgeon says no and goes on to say that they trained elsewhere etc., leave. It really isn’t worth the risk.

Ask about experience

Once you have established that your surgeon is board certified, the next step is to find out about their experience. Start off by asking about their experience as a plastic surgeon, ideally you want someone who has over five years experience in the industry.

It is also important to ask how many Brazilian butt lifts they have performed, as practice is essential. Ask your surgeon to show some before and after pictures (ideally about 10) of the results on different body types. If your surgeon shows you pictures of various body types – slim, curvy, heavier, this shows that they are experienced working with all body types.

Ask your surgeon to explain the procedure

If you are happy with the surgeons experience, the next thing to ask is for an explanation of how the procedure is performed.

There are three parts to the Brazilian butt lift procedure; these are liposuction, fat processing and fat reinjection.  Your surgeon should be able to explain in detail how each part of the procedure works.

It is important to remember that like any surgical procedure, there is a risk. However, if the procedure is done by a fully trained and experienced surgeon, any complications should be minimal.
