We all want to be healthy. And we all know the benefits of eating a healthy diet. Sadly our lifestyles can get in the way of our good intentions. We might have some bad habits or just no time to prepare good quality food. This can easily lead us to become malnourished. Without the right nutrition, we can leave our bodies prone to illness and disease.

If you find you are feeling tired and run down most of the time, now is the time to do something about it. The human body is like a machine that needs to be well looked after to operate effectively. You need to put the right fuel in and perform regular maintenance. This could be in the form of regular exercise to keep your muscles supple and strong.

Feeling tired also causes your motivation to drop. You can easily end up in a rut. With no motivation to fix the problem, you can end up getting worse and worse. Weight gain may creep in. You may also find you are more prone to illnesses like the common cold. You can give your system a quick nudge by quickly delivering those missing nutrients.

Many people turn to vitamin C tablets when they have a cold. This helps your immune system battle the bug. Other people may use a one-a-day multivitamin tablet in an attempt to boost their all-around health. However, some vitamins and minerals just don’t absorb very well when taken orally. You might be better off with some IV therapy to target the problems directly.

Regular exercise, even when you are feeling a little under the weather is still a good idea. Keeping your body moving and your circulation flowing effectively is one of the best ways to feel better. If you are ill, you should keep activity light, but laying still in bed might not be the best idea. Instead, take some fresh air with a gentle walk outdoors.

When you are feeling better, then regular exercise can be increased again. It’s important that it fits well into your lifestyle so you can make it a routine part of your life, for life. Your heart needs extra oxygen from deeper breathing to stay healthy. This can be achieved by Yoga or a sprint. The choice of the intensity of exercise is up to you. You should chat with your doctor first though if you have any long-term medical conditions.

To get back into the habit of exercise, think about where the extra activity could be incorporated into your everyday life. Perhaps you can walk the kids to school instead of using the car? Maybe you can take advantage of the gym at work during your lunch breaks? Simple things like using the stairs instead of the lift or parking further away can make a big difference.

Once you have found your level of activity that you can keep up, you can work out what you need from your diet. There are lots of apps out there to help you calculate the calories you need. Generally speaking, you can fill your main meal with vegetables without increasing your calories by much at all. Fruit does contain a lot of calories. This is from the natural sugars. However, they shouldn’t be avoided. Maybe you could eat a portion of fruit instead of a sweet treat like chocolate?

Now you have a handle on your diet and exercise; you are ready to start feeling more energetic and motivated again. If you are looking to lose weight quickly, you might want to try a special weight loss diet to help give you a kick start. However, maintaining a healthy weight should always be your long term goal.
